I’m excited for my first review as part of Purex Insiders, which provides bloggers like me with review and giveaway opportunities. I received a bottle of Purex Crystals Aromatherapy, a new laundry scent product, in exchange for an honest review.
Purex Crystals are similar to other products that you add to the wash to create a long-lasting and pleasant scent. Purex is marketing them as an aromatherapy product. The one I received is labeled as “Well Being” is described as “brightens any mood with the happy fragrance of fresh blossoms.”
This product is compatible with any washer, including HE and front-loading. You simply sprinkle it into the washer before you close the lid. There’s not really a recommended usage size. You can add as little as you want. For my first load, I didn’t want to use too much. Strong scents can be overwhelming to my, so I wanted to err on the side of caution.
I sprinkled just a little bit on. I could see the tiny crystals, which are a lot like bath beads. These dissolve in your washer, so they must work similarly. The bottle has a removable cap, and then there’s a hinged cover that pops up so you can sprinkle the crystals directly into the washer. It works well for adding them and you can easily adjust how much you add. However, it works less well for getting crystals back into the bottle if you spill them or, say, sprinkle some for photo’s sake.

Obviously, I could smell the scent booster as I did this. I use a communal laundry room, so I can’t tell you how it works during the load, but I can tell you that my laundry smelled strongly of flowers when it was ready to move to the dryer.
Fresh out of the dryer, the scent stayed with me as I moved through the building. Perhaps it was a little bit aromatherapeutic. Is that even a word? The scent has died down now that my laundry has been sitting in the basket for a few days — don’t just me, I’ll get it put away! But I can still definitely smell it if I’m sniffing my laundry, which I typically don’t do all that often.
I would have liked to try this with an unscented laundry detergent, which I don’t have or use. In fact, I buy Apple Mango Tango Gain because I love the scent, and it’s pretty strong compared to some other laundry soaps. I think the result is a blend between the fruity and the floral, which I definitely don’t mind, but I can see how Ourex Crystals might not work so well with some scents or detergents.
I am happy to report that this didn’t leave any sort of marks on my clothes. This might sound silly, but I’ve used laundry soap that constantly left white marks on my dark items.
If you’re interested in Purex Aromatherapy, I am happy to announced that Purex has made it possible for me to host a giveaway. Three lucky winners of Reviews by Cole will get to try a full-sized bottle of Purex Crystals Aromatherapy.
You’ll be able to choose the scent you like best from Well Being, Energy or Serenity.
